Make managing your content easier with Facebook’s Creator Studio

If you’re using Facebook and Instagram for your content marketing, do you use Facebook’s Creator Studio to manage your content?

No more logging in and out of different accounts, Facebook Creator Studio lets you manage posts, insights and messages from all of your Facebook Pages in one place.

What is Facebook Creator Studio?

Reporting and managing multiple Facebook pages became much easier when Facebook Creator Studio App was developed. By using just one dashboard, you could access the content and insights from all your pages in one place, simplifying reporting and saving time.

Creator Studio was initially set up for Facebook but after the social media giant bought Instagram in 2012 (and then WhatsApp in 2014), Facebook Inc slowly began integrating Instagram into Facebook’s capabilities.

The App essentially had various dashboards from which you could access and schedule content, access insights and toggle through your various pages quickly but is now only accessible through a desktop website.

What is Instagram Creator Studio?

In 2019 came the new integrated Instagram Creator Studio which is, as you’d expect, the Instagram part of the Facebook Creator Studio, where you can access new tools and features, including the ability to schedule IGTV videos.

Once you’ve set up your Facebook Creator Studio account you can easily connect and integrate your Instagram account/s and then swap between the two on the desktop site using the icons at the middle of the top menu bar.

Who is Creator Studio for?

“With these options, creators can grow their passion into a business, making money with any combination of monetization products that makes sense for their content and audience,” said Facebook when they released it. Some have suggested that Instagram Creator Studio is simply an effort to compete with other platforms designed for monitising content, like say, YouTube.

But that doesn’t mean it is solely for creators. There are definitely paid for options which give you *more* but that isn’t always what you need. If you’re a digital marketer, or even working for a brand that has more than one page for different products, the Creator Studio is a good free way to win yourself more time simply by having everything together in one place.

What can I use Creator Studio for?

#1 Manage all your content

Use the Content Library tab to see an overview of all your Facebook and Instagram videos, photos, carousel, stories, and IGTV posts. You can also filter and search, for example, if you want to only see posts in draft.

#2 Create new content including IGTV posts

By clicking ‘create post’ at the top left you can create new Facebook or Instagram content. Upload your image(s), write captions and tag your location. You can crop images to the right size here, too. You can now also tag people in photo posts, turn off comments and tag business partners in branded content.

#3 Schedule content including IGTV posts

If you like to pre-plan your content, Creator Studio gives you the option to schedule content, including Instagram and IGTV posts. Without a visual planner and media library, it may be too basic for some, but if you know what you want to post and just need a place to get it done, Creator Studio is your friend. When your content is ready, click the down arrow beside the publish button and select ‘Schedule’. Using the calendar/ time settings you can select the day and time you wish your content to hit your feed.

#4 Track insights

Depending on the level of reporting you require, Creator Studio may not offer enough, as it only records insights from the past 7 days. If you just need a basic overview, the Insights tab will let you view your Activity Insights for the past week to see what actions people take when they engage, and tracks the reach of your content and tells you the total number of impressions.

Final thoughts

All in all, Creator Studio is a great free first step for content creators, particularly now that Instagram accounts have been integrated. More advanced users especially managers who want to optimise content and provide detailed data driven long term insights may find it doesn’t go far enough.
